Living and Dwelling Places / Building a Place
The"Living and Dwelling Places"  project,  is the first collaborative work the group has done.  In 2010 it was exhibited at the "Rubin Museum" under the title "Building a Place". The exhibition was accompanied with a catalogue.
Igael Shemtov photographed in the Neveh Amal, Herzlia neighborhood during the summer of 1981. For years this community was considered "ex-territorial", being physically separated from the orchards and fields adjacent to it. The majority of its buildings were small 2 1/2 room government-sponsored structures, which were constructed on half dunam plots offering the possibility of additional building. Twenty years later, Oren Noy photographed the same type of neighborhood in Petch-Tikva and Ramleh. He observes the houses and how they grow with their inhabitants, developing aesthetics combined with socio-economic class.
Yaakov Israel photographs Jerusalem apartment complexes of the 60's offering a different ambivalent point of view. He portrays their strength albeit with the awareness of their aging. His position is not critical, relating to the reality which has evolved which cannot be avoided.
Yigal Feliks photographs the contemporary apartments constructed from the year 2000. The socio-economic rift which widens yearly is a central theme. New communities are totally detached from older ones with new "quality" apartments offered to specific sectors of the society such as academicians, businessmen etc. These "bubble-like" environments leave the larger municipalities in which they enclose themselves, to deal with their problems alone. The Israeli Dream expresses itself in Lego-like architecture and landscaping, which depict a complete life-style. This model is further defined by the objects displayed on the porches, the clothing and cars which one should own.
Yosaif Cohain has been intermittently photographing "Sukkot" (Biblical holiday of Tabernacles) since 1980. The simply constructed "Sukkah" memorializes the temporary structures which were erected en-route to Israel after leaving Egypt until they reached and settled in the promised-land. These images which connect an ancient tradition to contemporary life and environment, look at a nation finding its way in its historical surroundings.
Orit Siman-Tov photographs the peculiar intermission when archeological findings are discovered on building sites. In most cases, after archeologists finish excavating, documenting and collecting valuable historical artifacts from the "emergency excavations", construction continues and buries the past. These photographs are "Archeological Excavations" in the stratas of time of this land. They are decisive moments which capture the past present and future uncovering artifacts and making choices concerning for living/ building this land.
